The story

Long ago, Noah loved God and did what was right. God told him to build an ark, a giant wooden boat, because a great flood was coming. Noah listened, and he and his sons worked and worked, even when people laughed.

When the ark was ready, the animals came, two by two: lions and lambs, elephants and ants, birds of every color. Noah’s family went inside, and God closed the door. Then the rain fell for forty days and forty nights, and the ark floated safely on the water.

At last the rain stopped. Noah sent out a dove, and one day she came back with an olive leaf in her beak: there was dry land! Everyone came out of the ark and thanked God. And God set a rainbow in the clouds, a promise that he would never flood the whole earth again.
