Saint of the day

Saint of the day

Every day the Church remembers one or more saints, friends of Jesus who now live with God in heaven, and on a Catholic holiday it celebrates a feast of Jesus or Mary too. Here is today’s saint, told for children, with a little thing to do and a short prayer to say together.

Questions about today’s saint

Is today a Catholic holiday?

Look at the box above. On a Catholic holiday it shows the day’s solemnity or feast, like Christmas or the Immaculate Conception, with its rank; on other days it shows the saint the Church remembers. When a feast has its own page on Rosal, our sister site, the link there explains what it means and how to celebrate it as a family. We’re adding the year month by month: for now the calendar covers November to February, and on other days the box shows all the saints.

Why does each saint have a day?

The Church gives each saint a feast day, usually the day they died and went home to God. On that day Catholics around the world remember them and ask them to pray for us.

What if there are several saints today?

Many days have more than one. We show each of them, with the rank of the day’s celebration, and you can pick one to read about with your child.
